Amar Chitra Katha – Ghatotkacha The Chivalrous Demon

He may have looked like a demon, but Ghatotkacha was a guardian angel – always ready to help, always cheerful. The Pandava brother, Bheema, was lucky to have him as a son, for he saved his life more than once. And if it were not for this brave young rakshasa, the Kauravas may well have been the victors of the famous battle of Mahabharata.Ghatotkacha is portrayed as a strong and helpful character, despite his demon-like appearance. He is known for his loyalty and willingness to assist his father and the Pandavas. The name “Ghatotkacha” comes from his head being hairless and shaped like a pot (ghatam). He plays a crucial role in the Kurukshetra war, using his magical powers to fight against the Kauravas. He is married to Ahilawati and is the father of Barbareek.
